I admit it… I’m a wuss.

This cold is KICKING OUR BUTTS!  Mom and I have tried everything in our medicine cabinet arsenol to no avail, so she went to her doctor yesterday to get us some good stuff and the idiot told her it was just seasonal allergies.  Uh… yeah.. ok.  No one in this family has allergies, yet suddenly she and I are both mysteriously stricken at exactly the same time?  She came home with Allegra, Flonase, and Hydrocodone.  I thought about giving it a shot with my doctor, but just can’t bring myself to go.  I’m so sick of doctors at this point!  About the only thing that provides any relief has been Dayquil, and that doesn’t help much.

Ya know how there are different strains of flu virus?  Wonder if the same holds true for colds?  Some colds I’ve had really weren’t that bad, while others were.  The course this one is running is why I ask.  Mom and I got sick at the same time and our symptoms have been hitting or changing at the same time.  It started with a headache, then burning sensations in our noses with clear, watery drainage, congestion soon followed, and now this relentless cough.  My daughter called yesterday and told us she now has it too and it is following the exact same course as ours.  My son, on the other hand, was only sick for about 24 hrs. and never developed a cough.  Guess all that oragne juice paid off, huh?  My grandson seems to have missed getting it so far.  Since he’s breastfed, he’s likely to have a better immune system, we’re told.  So is it the strain of cold you get exposed to or is it the effeciency of your immune system that determines how severe your symptoms will be?

And I was going to catch up on reading some other blogs, but my head is pounding again at this point, so I’ll have to come back later for that.  I’m off to find some Tylenol!  Oh crap… I can’t take any!  My cold medicine has that in it!  Great!!  NOW what do i do?
