Since last Saturday, I’ve been obsessed with one thought… got to get a horse! You see, the neighbor who’s property butts up to the back of mine moved in some horses last Saturday. We’ve been rather confused by the whole thing because the farm belongs to one neighbor and the horses to another. What I’m thinking is that the pasture on Mr. Horse Owner’s farm has suffered from the drought and he’s asked Mr. Empty Field if he could pasture his horses there for a while. There were cows in the field up until about two months ago and they just mysteriously disappeared one day.
Anyway, I’m now constantly looking out the patio doors, checking to see what the horses are up to. There’s about 7 or so. My view is a tad obstructed with trees and such so it is hard to tell how many there are for sure. All this has had Mom and me reflecting back on the days when we had horses and we’ve convinced ourselves we need to get back in the saddle!
I have already started to work on a plan. Mr. Horse Owner used to work for Owen’s uncle, so I’m going to have hubby get a name and number for this man so I can call him up and ask if he would board for us. He lives right up the street and the barn is certainly within walking distance. Now how cool would that be? I could have a horse in my backyard without having to buy my own farm! What’s more, I never see this man riding so he might be willing to work out a deal with me in that regard. I could exercise his horses for him in exchange for board. Or at least a discount, ya know.
Cross your fingers for me!
