About Ouiser
I’m a 36-year-old wife, mother of 2, and recently became a grandma. For many years now, I have been battling a chronic illness… a battle I fear I am losing. While I have been diagnosed with FM (Fibromyalgia), I feel that is only a small part of the picture. What’s more, the doctors I seen have been quick to lump any and every symptom I have under the FM umbrella. Despite the common knowledge that FM patients classically do not have any abnormalities in their lab work, there have been several findings in mine, which can’t be explained and are therefore dismissed.
This blog is a place for me to visit and just be sick. Let’s face it, no one wants to be around a chronic whiner and I certainly don’t want to be known only as such. So here I have a place to vent my frustrations, be open and honest about how I feel… emotionally and physically, without straining my well-world relationships.
Hey, I have a love/hate relationship with prednisone. It has always helped with my joint swelling but whenever I have tried to taper off of it (now and years ago) I have had alot of problems. Plus it has lots of side effects like depleting your calcium and folic acid and causing weight gain, trouble sleeping, etc. Maybe your docs don’t want to use it b/c of the side effects; I don’t know. It is dangerous to use long term. I just wish I didn’t need it!! What meds does the doctor use to treat you?
I hope you get over your cold/flu soon.
about the above comment. I meant to e-mail it to you not post it in response to your comment on my blog, oh well.
Most recently, I had been on Lamictal, but stopped that and now I’m taking absolutely nothing. I wanted to try the prednisone because I honestly think my eosinophilia has a LOT to do with my symptoms and prednisone has been proven to control it, even when used short term.
Hang in there. I like your blog.
